Gday, I'm replacing the front shockies on my TC and need some stiff shocks. Its got crap monroes on it, and I checked out some new monroe heavy duty gas, but they were way too soft. I was quoted $85 each for some gas pedders sportsryder, and he reckoned they were stiff. Anyone tried these, and are they stiff? I just want the stiffest I can get, but not bilsteins though, I dont have $400 each to spend.

Pedders shocks are just monroes with red paint and pedders stickers.
Look into KYB shocks for something between monroes and koni's etc

Pedders shocks are far from 'monroes with red paint' as I have four cars (TD, TE and TG Gems and a VP Calais) running various pedders products. Would recommend the pedders 'Reds' if you want firmer response, but shouldn't we also be talking about springs? Even a brand new set of monroes should firm up the suspension to a point, I would sugest the springs are shot.

Go the full monty, I did (am?), king springs with monroe GT gas on all four corners, whiteline bar up the front with a rear to follow when funds allow. That combined with new upper and lower balljoints, new rack ends, new tie-rod ends and a good wheel alignment makes gertrude handle well enough to put a permanent ear to ear smile on anyone who drives her.

As for monroe GT gas not being stiff enough, I will plead ignorance here and abstain from the debate, I haven't had wide enough experience to be able to comment.

I've already got heavy duty pedders springs all round. Supposedly standard height (dont want to loose ground clearance). I say supposedly cause pedders screwed up initally and sent lowered front marked with the standard height part number. Great for loads of understeer! That was supposed to be fixed, but I think they have sagged again, I've got 215/50's on the front (but not for long) and they scrub the guards, so I'm getting pissed off with pedders springs. Especially since the back is sitting way up in the air, aprox 3" clearance between the rear wheel arch and tyre (185/70). The weird tyre sizes are just what was on the mags when I bought them ok. For $200 you dont complain.
As for bars up the front, I've got plenty. 2 in fact, the front is reasonably stiff, just too low, I was thinking of trying to artificially raise it with shocks, but I realise that wont work, so its back to the pedders dealer with some ride height measurements to complain.

Similar problem with my Calais. - Springs WILL sag slightly in the first month or so until they settle in. 215s on the front of any gemini with standard guards is asking for trouble with clearance even at standard height.......... I have 195/45/16s on my wifes TG and that will scrub occasionally.

I bought a set of KYB shockies and they are great.
I paid $145 a pair.
