In Queensland what tyre sizes are legal for the purposes of a RWC on 13" rims ??

I have 175/75's at the moment on all 4 wheels, I however got an irreparable puncture on one of the rears the day before I was going for a RWC.

I can pick up 2 legal (tread wise) 185/70's for $20 and I was wondering is that legal tyre size for 13" rims on gemini ?? And with 185/70 on the rear and the 175/75 in the front would it get a RWC ??

All I am certain about is that the 2 front tyres must be the same size and tread pattern. The rears can have a different tread pattern to each other but must be the same size as each other.

I am uncertain about legal sizes for the 13" rims and the allowance for the different size between front and rear tyres.

All help is appreciated.

check out the qld transport site, cause on there they got a thing that tells ya what you can do to your car without having to put a modplate on, this includes bonnet scoops, exhaust TYRES and more, so check it out, its a tiny bit hard to find, ill just find it now, http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/driver.nsf/index/vehiclemods

then you click on the (All About Modifications to Motor Vehicles) button and that shows you all you need to know.
hope this helps

Cheers for that. I have read it but I don't fully understand it !! Can someone clarrify this for me:

"TYRE CONSTRUCTION
Tyre thread compound, patterns, ply ratings, and performance characteristics vary. Tyre construction (e.g. Radial) and size must be the same on the same axle. Although it is recommended that the tyres are identical (i.e. same brand and tread pattern) this is not madatory."

Does that mean 175/70 (same brand and tread) on the front axle and 185/70 (smae tread and brand) on the rear axle would be legal in Queensland on a Gemini ?? I just don't want to go for my RWC and fail and have to fork out more money.

what they want is to make sure u dont have a steel belted radial on one side and a nylon tyre on the other you should b able to get through the rwc with 175 and 185 tyres as you are allowed 15mm higher profile and 25mm lower eg 205/60/13 is slightly lower in height than a 175/70 /13 rims are only 1"over standard so you can only have 6"rims(for the rwc anyhow)

I hope this helps on your quest for rego

I know the 185's are legal, what I am unsure about is if it is legal to have 175's on the front and 185's on there rear - i.e. are you allowed different tyre sizes on front and rear axle ??

Straight out of the booklet
"The nominal width of the narrowest tyre fitted to a vehicle must
not be less than 70 percent of the nominal width of the largest
tyre fitted and never less than the vehicle manufacturer’s
narrowest optional tyre as indicated on the manufacturer’s
tyre placard."

With that being said, as long as the tyres are within the overall diameter (+15, -25mm) there is no problems.
