yeah a cam controls the opening and closing of the valves so an auto don't matter

A cam only workers in the higher revs so if an auto changes gear because it revs up is there n e benefit from the cam ?

a cam can work anywhere in the rev range really depends on it's size so you would need a different cam than a manual unless you get some work done to the auto to make it rev harder

i had a coupe with an auto 1800 motor twin side draught dellortos and a 35/75 cam.
the only reason this combo worked well is cause i had a 3200 stall conv (not forgettin the locked diff)it was sik on the street and way cool fun in the wet
