There are always people with fake "auto" licenses. Not sure about the rest of Oz, but in Vic, if you do your driving test in an Auto, you're not allowed to drive a manual till you're off your P's.....if you go for it in a manual, obviously you can drive both. Could also be someone who got a job a courier or something? couldn't be fucked stop/starting in peak hour traffic in the city? who knows...personally, i'd never do it though :)

I've got an Isuzu Bellett that was a 4-speed column shift manual, changed to a floor shift. Fantastic, but the gearbox gate is backwards. First time I drove it, I took off in third! Not only that, it didn't shudder or complain. I can't do that in a Gemini! That's coz the Bellett's peak torque is made at 1200rpm, which is very strange for a 1500cc 4 pot.
I've had a column shiftus Bellett as well, and it was heaps of funky fun to drive. No seat belts, huge tiller and bench seat - I don't know why the other car had the shifter changed - the column shiftus was a hoot to drive!
I dunno, people are idiots I guess. |

I've driven a few old toranas and H series holdens with column shift..I bloody hated the things. Give me a floor shift anyday. Different strokes for different blah blah blah....
