gday..
i own a 78 td gemini, the guy i bought it off sayed it had a cam in it but he didnt know how big, my gemi idles at 1100 rpm, but anywere under 1000 rpm it starts idelin a bit rough, how big to you rekon the cam is in my engine??

Rough idle can be caused by other things. You could get a rough idea by where it makes power, if its nice and torquey low down and pulls good, then its probably not a real big cam. But if it is kind of doughey down low, then hits once the revs build, and it loves the revs (more than Gemmis do normally) then its probably a bit "lumpy".
My cam makes peak power at about 4800 rpm (I say peak cause thats as hard as it revs in 5th on the flat), but its only very mild. I have to have idle @ 850-900 rpm which is only just above stock for a manual. |
