Is the engine capacity (eg 1600 or 1800) stamped on the engine block. If so, where?

The G160 is an earlier version of the engine, but does not hold much in common with the G161Z.

The G160 is a 1600cc over-head-valve engine, meaning that the valves are actuated by pushrods - old-school style.

It is a 1600cc version of the Isuzu Bellett's G150 and Bellett Wasp (utility) G130 engines.

It saw service in the Bellett GT (with twin carbies, prior to switching to the DOHC model in the mid-60s) and may have found it's way into the Isuzu Florian, Chev Luv ute and the early Isuzu 117s - all that is speculation though - I've got it written down somewhere but it's not important.

So if you do find a G160, then it ain't much good to you - but a Bellett owner may want to have a squiz at it - the Bellett's have excellent power and torque for their size and technology level, but there is no such thing as too much power is there?

Dave

ahhh crap. Thats right..in the belletts g160 started around sept'66 and went to aug67 when the g161z kicked in. With a cylinder size of 83x73 and displacement of 1579cc compared to the 161 being 82x75mm 1584cc, setup with twin su carbs and a comp ratio of 9.3:1 it managed to push out 2 less horsepower and .5kg less torque than the g161z with 88@5400 and 12.5kg@4200 torque. Weighed a kilo hevier too. But yeah, was also in the 117 coupe but they mostly came out with dohc anyway.
