the cortina that was released with a 1600 engine had the 32/36 dgav webber according to my webber manual. these are easily fitted with the use of an after market adaptor plate and some creative mods on the accelerator linkage, i've done this conversion but was a few yrs ago(read about 5yrs), the adaptor plate was a lynx i think. i wasnt happy with the performance 1stly i think it was jetted for a 2lt and 2ndly the shape of the adaptor plate virtually cuts out the secondarys throat affecting flow at speed, on the upside the induction noise was a turn on.....sounded gr8 |

My Weber has given my old 1600 a big, big burst of power. It depends what type of adapter plate you get. Mine was from a Sprint Auto Parts so even if you don't have Sprint in your state (I'm in SA), find one on the Internet White Pages and find out what brand they stock.
They're easier to fit as well. I used an old piece of Isuzu Bellett carby cut up and adapted for the accelerator cable.
Put it this way, my 1600 hasn't been rebuilt in 10 years, and it's a panelvan which means it's probably been thrashed. With the Weber, it'll bag up my heavy, heavy 205 14" steel wheels at about 3000 revs. Not bad, really. |
