First of all, I have been told that the 1.8L and 2.0L crank are identical, is this true?

Secondly, assuming that the crank is the same, is it possible to bore out a 1.6L block heaps, use the 1.8L/2L crank and end up with 2.0L??
I know that the block is 15mm shorter but apparently certain Mazda pistons fit.

Thanks in advance.

You can bore a 1600 out to fit 2lt pistons and fit the g180/g200 crank but you will need to use the g160 rods as the g160 deck height is about 10mm shorter than g180/g200. You may also need to have some machine work done to the tops of the pistons (eg valve reliefs). Talk to a engine reconditioner for a more acurate description of machining and price.
