I called a mechanic the other day and he suggested putting an FJ20 in my gem. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this engine in a TG gem... is it worth the hassle? what is involved and how much would a good condition FJ20 cost?
Thanks. |

I helped my mate put his in a gemini. Fair bit of work involved including custom engine mounts and custom exhaust and turbo manifold cause it sits where the original engine mounts are in the gem. Custom gearbox mount. All up it's a bit of squeeze. You should be able to pick up a front cut of a Silvia for $2 - $2500 that's got the computer and most things u will need. But I think it's worth it I would do it if I had $5000 to spare. But downfall of putting one in is the torque twist of the motor, it has been known to crack the A pillar and maybe the floor pan. So bracing is good.
