What is the difference between a standard and heavy duty clutch kit ??
Is it just that the pressure plate has a stiffer spring action to force the clutch against the flywheel ??
Does the clutch itself have more meat on it??
Will a machined flywheel increase grip with the clutch??
What heavy duty clutches are available, how much, and where from?? I got quoted $150 for a kit at Checkpoint. |

there is a big difference between std and heavy duty. contact your local autopart dealer ask to look through their RPM Clutches Catalogue. And that will tell you what you need to know about clutches. And for the "illiterate" there are pictures.

machining the flywheel won't so much make the clutch work better, but it will stop the clutch wearing real quick. It's a v.good idea to get it machined when you change a clutch (esp. if you buy a whole new clutch kit). Only costs about $30 or so...
