Rotaries got their bad name from the earlier ones, the later ones are fine.

You might want to get it reconditioned but as long as they looked after it it'll be fine.

Anyone who hasnt had a rota says there mad, but if its ported then your looking at a rebuild every year or so. for the money its gunna cost you go with what nomiS is saying, have one imported. itl be HEAPS cheaper in the longrun.

if you change the oil regularly and let it warm up and cool down itl b right for ages.. the only ports that need a rebuild every year are mayb bridgey, j port 4 sure, and anything bigger eg Periphial Port

Why is it that the different porting appears to reduce life span? I would be interested to know.

I can't think of any other reason other than the fact that the engine is making more power and there is more stress on the cases. Is that it? You have removed more metal from the cases so they are weaker? That was a stab in the dark :)

well from my limited knowledge, i thought it was to do with ware and tair. because you cut big fuk-off holes in the rota part it is nolonger a tight fit and thus dies in the arse. i think?? i had it explained to me aaaages ago but i cant remember.
