it depends what 'cover it for everything' really means, do you have any details on what he actually intends to provide? and is this just for the parts or will he to the labor for it as well? If it includes a reasonably sized turbo that is in good condition eg. doesn’t blow smoke and doesn’t have excessive play in the shaft etc, new sump or modifying your sump for the oil return (using your dipstick tube as an oil return is a easy way to blow the seal), oil lines, (lynx intake manifold - are you talking about the twin weber lynx manifold? if he can get it to work with that then good for him. Draw through setup then i take it?) carby, wastegate, decompression plate if needed, exhaust manifold, cross over pipe etc.. well if everything’s in good condition then yeah, and its going to work $900 is probably worth it. If it comes with boost gauges, turbo timer etc.. then their added bonuses but unless it comes with a good exhaust or you already have one (eg 2.5") you will probably need that too (another $300)..

$900 is a real good price, but like fastgem said, it depends on how comprehensive the kit is. I would also assume draw through, but how is he going to use your lynx manifold? What type of manifold is it? I am surprized that if someone has a kit, that it isn't made for a standard manifold, or is he making it from scratch?

Just for parts? $900 is pretty good, but then again, there isn't alot involved with a blow through setup. The trickiest bit would be the oil return to the sump. The rest is just bolting bits on and hooking up a fuel line an acc cable.

Hey Adam,
I sent you some info about a turbo kit a while ago. What was the matter with it, cost too much, didn't want to at the time, etc?? I've still got most of the bits here, and I sell bits from the kits all the time.

It is a simple bolt on kit. The only hassle as with any conversion is the fact that you have to get the sump off to attach an oil return fitting. It would put even the most stressed out ET to shame though, down the quarter and around a circuit. I have heard of a E15T engine putting out close to 300hp though, which is about the limit of my kit when it is maxed out. To go any further would require custom exhasut manifolds to hold a huge turbo with external wastgate, and blow through twin sidedraughts. The airbox for this setup is a pain in the ass, I'm making one right now.

i just finished a turbo conversion to my td gemi, all up it cost around $400. it is a blow through turbo with a 32/36 webber and toyota ct12 turbo running 7-8psi. the reason my conversion was cheap was because i did a lot of the work myself, and i had the turbo lying around. basically to cut costs i used the stock exhaust manifold and bent a pipe upwards to the turbo then made a dump pipe from the turbo. the air box i brought from ben wright and that sits on top of the webber.
here is a rough guide to how much it would have cost me if i was to buy everything:
toyota ct 12 turbo $85
airbox $133
exhaust manifolds
(befriend an exhaust fitter) $100
inlet pipe $15
rubber hose(for inlet pipe) $20
webber and adaptor
(buy the webber from a wreckers) $100
various hoses and fittings $80
malpassi regulator $200
bluebird fuel pump $80
full 2.5inch exhaust $500

total $1313

this is just a rough guide, to save money though you dont have to worry about the exhaust.
i would recomend this conversion, you get lots of looks and it will drift real well Smile

You could have at least spelt my name right!

You never did get back to me about the fuel pump, is it just your average efi type?

Hows the malpassi, does it work well with efi pressures and idle pressures required by the carby?

sorry bout the name.... it works alright but doesnt like to idle, needs a bigger pump though cause it runs out of fuel at about 6-7psi, it was out of a trx blubird...

I take it you got a pump from the carbed engine, either L20 or the twin spark engine, I cant remember what its called. In that case, as you have found, the pump will only output around the 6-7psi mark, and when you have the same amount of boost, the pressures are equal and no fuel will flow.
